Two charged after Darlington baby left with critical injuries

Two people have been charged after a baby sustained critical injuries in Darlington.

Police were called to an address shortly before 2pm on Monday, May 26.

Paramedics also attended, and a one-year-old baby was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, with critical injuries.

The baby remains in a critical condition and is continuing to receive treatment in hospital.

Two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.

The woman, 20 year old Amy Cave, of Waltham Close and the 24 year old man, Craig Neill, of Cotherstone Moor Drive, have since been charged with causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

They have been remanded in custody to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court today (May 28).

The second man, aged 24-year-old, was released on bail.
