CCTV released after child struck in Thornaby collision
Cleveland Police say a rider on an electric motorbike fled the scene
An investigation has started to find an electric motorbike rider after a collision involved in a nine year old child in the Thornaby area of Middlesborough.
Cleveland Police say the child was struck whilst riding a pedal bike at around 4.50pm on Thursday 26th March in Imperial Avenue, Thornaby.
They say the child did not suffer any serious injuries but was left shaken.
The rider of the motorbike, which came from the direction of Diamond Road, rode off from the scene towards Sandringham Road.
Temporary Inspector Laura Black said: “Extensive enquiries are currently underway, including reviewing CCTV footage, but I would urge anyone with information on this incident to please get in touch with us.
“Thankfully, the young child only suffered minor injuries but is obviously extremely shaken up by what happened. We won’t tolerate this behaviour – not on our streets.
“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their communities and we will do all we can to investigate this incident and take appropriate action.”
Officers are urging the rider or anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 056463. They have also appealed for dashcam footage to be sent to them.
