A cannabis farm - worth over 2 and a half million pounds - is being dismantled in Marske.
Yesterday morning (Monday 20th January) Redcar & East Cleveland NPT, acting on information from the public, forced entry into a large disused unit on Longbeck Trading Estate in Marske.
Inside the premises officers discovered a large-scale cannabis farm with thousands of plants spread across several growing areas.
Their estimated street value is over two and a half million pounds.
Officers contacted the NEDL, who attended to make safe the electrics safe as they’d been tampered with, and the plants are being removed then destroyed today.
A Mercedes Sprinter van was also recovered from the location as part of the investigation.
Scene of Crime Officers have been at the unit this morning and forensic and other enquiries are well underway.
Redcar & East Cleveland NPT Chief Inspector Tom Sewell said: “No one was present at the address however enquiries are underway to identify anyone involved.
“I’d ask workers and visitors to other nearby businesses to think back, and to check their company CCTV or even their own dashcam to see if they’ve captured anything which could help our ongoing enquiries.
“We will continue to gather intelligence on those who grow, supply and deal drugs in our communities so we can take action - and we always welcome information from residents.”
