David Bowie Joint Favourite To Win Mercury Prize
The 12 āalbums of the yearā were revealed last night
David Bowie is joint favourite to win the Barclaycard Mercury Prize with his critically acclaimed 24th studio album āThe Next Dayā.
The 12 UK & Irelandās āAlbums of the Yearā were revealed at Londonās Hospital Club last night (11th September) and as always bookmakers were quick off the marks with their betting odds.
The oldest ever Mercury Prize nominee at the age of 66, The Thin White Dukeās āThe Next Dayā is listed at 4/1 by William Hill alongside Arctic Monkeysā āAMā.
Laura Marlingās āOnce I Was An Eagleā and Foalsā āHoly Fireā are both at 5/1 while Disclosureās āSettleā and James Blakeās āOvergrownā are at 7/1.
Three albums are close behind at 8/1 ā Rudimentalās āHomeā, Jake Buggās self-titled debut and Laura Mvulaās āSing to the Moon.ā
Bringing up the rear at 10/1 are Villagersā āAwaylandā, Jon Hopkinsā āImmunityā and Savagesā āSilence Yourselfā.

The overall winner will be announced at The Roundhouse in Camden on Wednesday 30th October.
