A woman was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and intent to supply drugs in Swindon.

This is after members of the public alerted police to reports of a woman slumped over her steering wheel in Fleming Way Retail Park Swindon last Thursday.

Police officers found crack cocaine and a large amount of cash at the scene.

A 30-year-old woman has now been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession with intent to supply a controlled substance, following the callout.

A spokesperson for the police force stated: "At 1pm last Thursday, Central Swindon South neighbourhood officers were called to Fleming Way Retail Park following reports of a welfare concern for a female who was slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle

"Thanks to these good-natured calls from concerned members of the public, and the local neighbourhood officers attending within minutes of the report, this female was dealt with swiftly and robustly.

"Had she driven away, this could have led to a huge risk to her safety and that of other road users."

No formal charge has been made and enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
