Woman, 18, dies in single vehicle crash on M4

Officers are appealing for witnesses

A 18-year-old woman has died after a single vehicle collision on the M4 yesterday (26th April).

Emergency Services were called at around 5:25pm to the scene between junctions 16 (Swindon) and 17 (Chippenham) after a Vauxhall Corsa left the carriageway and caught alight.

Police say her next of kin have been informed.

Lanes 1 and 2 of the M4 westbound remain closed.

Wiltshire Police say a full closure of the motorway in both directions is being put in place from late this afternoon while specialist machinery is used to recover the vehicle.

Police say it is not currently known how long this will need to be in place for.
