Wiltshire Council has awarded £200,000 to VisitWiltshire to bolster the county's visitor economy, support local businesses, and encourage more people to explore Wiltshire's attractions.

The funding aims to strengthen Wiltshire's tourism sector by increasing visitor numbers and boosting local businesses through heightened tourism expenditure.

VisitWiltshire will utilise the investment to continue delivering destination marketing, business support, and travel trade engagement, while aligning with national Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) standards through VisitEngland.

A comprehensive marketing schedule, complemented by seasonal campaigns, digital content, and website enhancements, will showcase Wiltshire's unparalleled historic attractions, vibrant towns, countryside, and hospitality offerings, promoting it as a choice destination for day trips, short breaks, and extended stays.

Additionally, the investment will provide networking opportunities, industry forums, travel trade activities, and tailored business advice to ensure tourism businesses in Wiltshire remain competitive and achieve growth.

Councillor Helen Belcher, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Regeneration and Assets, expressed the council's commitment to tourism as an essential driver of economic growth and part of the county's sustainable community prosperity efforts.

"Tourism brings significant benefits to Wiltshire, supporting businesses, creating jobs and helping our towns and villages thrive," Belcher said, highlighting the importance of showcasing Wiltshire's variety to entice longer visitor stays and increased spending.

David Andrews, Chief Executive of VisitWiltshire, welcomed the investment and noted confidence in continuing to develop Wiltshire as a year-round destination, thereby benefiting local communities and the economy.

Supported by Wiltshire Council, the initiative aims to deliver long-term economic benefits by reinforcing Wiltshire's appeal as a destination for visitors from across the UK and beyond.
