Exciting developments are underway for the Wilts & Berks Canal at Wichelstowe, showcasing significant progress on the canal's new 600-metre stretch following the installation of Bushey Fox Bridge.

Recent photos highlight the behind-the-scenes efforts involved in creating a feature that will eventually support boating, walking, cycling, and wildlife, becoming a central element of the Wichelstowe community.

With more than £5 million invested in the canal and bridge project through a partnership between the Council and Barratt Developments, the initiative aims to realise the long-term vision for one of the South West’s largest new communities.

The ongoing excavation and shaping of the canal channel are key steps in bringing this vision to life, reflecting ambitious plans to integrate the canal as a defining feature of Wichelstowe.

Once completed, the canal is set to enhance local recreational activities and ecological benefits, contributing significantly to the community’s development.
