Two men arrested following Royal Wootton Bassett Boots burglary

Two men has been arrested following a burglary at the Boots store in Royal Wootton Bassett in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 23rd April).

The High Street branch was targeted at around 2.50am, with a quantity of products stolen.

Police were later alerted to two men acting suspiciously in a blue Nissan Juke in the Walcot area at around 10.00am today.

The same vehicle had been seen in the Wroughton area at around 3.00am and was believed to be linked to the burglary.

Officers spotted the car in Somerville Road, but it left the area despite a tactical attempt to stop it.

Two men decamped close to Goddard Park School and were seen to throw a bag of items, believed to be from the Boots store, over a fence.

The pair were then seen in an alleyway on Dulverton Avenue and traced to a property in Shaftesbury Avenue, with the help of Police Dog Brie.

A 46 year old and a 35 year old have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The 46 year old is also being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified, theft of a motor vehicle and drug driving.

The pair remain in custody at this time.
