Trinity Hall, a notable red-brick landmark in Swindon, may soon return to its original function as a place of worship if the latest plans are approved.

Constructed in the late 19th century, Trinity Hall is situated at the base of Victoria Road near Regent Circus.

The building has served various purposes over the years, including as a nursery school, but has been on offer for sale since 2023.

Equippers Church, based in Swindon, has submitted a new application advocating for Trinity Hall's use as a religious facility.

The church emphasised that returning the building to its original purpose is a favourable alternative to previous proposals.

If the plan proceeds, the church anticipates hosting up to 300 people split between two Sunday services.

Further community activities such as volunteer training and youth group sessions are proposed, to be held mid-week with limited traffic impact.

The outward facade of Trinity Hall would stay unaltered should the application be approved.

Internal modifications include removing two offices on the first floor to expand the main auditorium, and redesigning spaces on the upper ground floor to create a hospitality and café area.

Prior plans, submitted by housing developer Abode Time, envisioned the conversion of Trinity Hall into residential flats, which was approved last May.

These plans included dividing the building into two-bedroom flats, one-bed apartments, and studio flats.

Despite objections from Swindon Borough Council’s early years education team, which cited the need for pre-school facilities, the conversion was approved due to a lack of interest from nursery operators.

Enhancements like cycle parking and bin storage helped overcome initial objections that had led to a similar proposal being rejected in February 2025.

As Trinity Hall's potential return to religious use is considered, Swindon's community awaits decisions impacting the future of this historic site.
