Swindon Town Football Club has signed defender Mitch Clark.
Clark will join Ian Holloway’s side, after the expiry of his contract with fellow SkyBet League Two side Port Vale, signing a contract at the Nigel Eady County Ground until the Summer of 2027, with the option of a further 12 months, subject to EFL approval.
Mitch Clark came through the ranks at Aston Villa, making his debut for The Villains during a second-round Carabao Cup clash against Wigan Athletic in August 2017.
The next season, Clark joined Port Vale on loan, ending the season with a further 45 senior appearances to his name.
After a successful season with The Valiants, the defender signed for Premier League side Leicester City in the summer of 2019.
Two further loan spells at Vale Park followed before Clark found a new permanent home at Accrington Stanley in 2021.
The former Wales youth international enjoyed a fruitful spell with Stanley in SkyBet League One, contributing to a combined eight goals and assists during his two-year stint with John Coleman’s side.
After his two-year spell in Lancashire, Clark re-joined Vale for a fourth time in 2023. Across the next three seasons, he made a further 53 appearances for The Valiants.
To date, the 27 year-old has made over 200 appearances in EFL competitions, with arguably his finest footballing achievement occurring in the 2024/2025 season, when he helped Darren Moore’s Port Vale side achieve promotion to League One.
Speaking about joining Swindon Town, he said: “I’m really happy to be here, I’m really looking forward to getting out onto the pitch and playing in front of the fans.
“I’m a hard-working player that will run through a brick wall for the team, and I’m someone that will give my all.
“I’m 27 years old now, so I’m an older player compared to some people nowadays, and the fact that I experienced a promotion two years ago with Port Vale, I’m hoping to experience that again.”
