Swindon Town has announced the loan-signing of 19 year-old midfielder, Anthony Munda, from Newcastle United, subject to EFL approval.

The young midfielder has joined on a season-long deal, with Munda determined to get some first-team minutes under his belt.

He joined the Magpies aged nine and has progressed all the way into the first team, where he made his senior debut, during a friendly against Hull City, in the Summer of 2024.

Munda made his U18 Premier League debut during the 2022/23 season, where he featured 21 times for Newcastle’s U18s side, bagging four goals, before also making 21 appearances for the U18s the next season.

The 2024/2025 season proved to be another positive season for the youngster, who made 25 appearances for the Geordie side’s youth teams, including six appearances across the EFL Trophy and National League Cup.

Last season, the England youth international played 31 times for Newcastle’s U21s side, scoring three goals, while also featuring in five EFL Trophy and National League matches.

Speaking after his move to Swindon, he said: “I’m buzzing to be here; obviously it’s a long way from home.

“I feel like the point where I am in my career now, I’m ready for it. I feel like it’s a really good club to be at; we play great football, so I feel like it’s a good step for me.

“I spoke to the Manager, and he liked how athletic I am, how I can get round the pitch and my bit of quality on the ball, so I feel like the conversations I’ve had have been quite positive.”
