Swindon Speedway: final call on the consultation

There's a day left to have your say

It's the last chance for people to have their say on a new speedway stadium on the outskirts of Swindon.

Plans for the Studley Grange Motorsports Hub were submitted back in July - with a decision anticipated by the end of the year.

Bosses are calling this the final chance for speedway racing in Swindon.

Swindon Motorsports have secured a long-term lease on the site to create a new permanent home for the Swindon Robins through the delivery of a sustainable facility and operational model for Swindon Speedway.

In addition to a speedway arena and racing specification karting circuit, the Studley Grange Motorsports Hub will deliver:

  • Up to 87 jobs across the site, in a modern business centre boosting employment opportunities locally, and creating training opportunities for young people. We are open to discussions with local businesses, community groups, and sports clubs to understand how we can provide support and advice
  • Office, meeting, and workshop space for motorsport startups, supporting investment in the future of the industry
  • A business centre with office, R&D and light industrial spaces for rent with the potential to provide space for 56 jobs, supporting local businesses
  • The restoration of Studley Grange Farmhouse, a Listed Building currently in a state of severe deterioration
  • Sustainability and energy efficiency measures including EV charging infrastructure, rooftop solar panels, and recycled materials
  • Annual business rates to Wiltshire Council to support the delivery of local services for residents

Terry Russell, Chairman of Swindon Speedway, said: "With the formal validation of our planning application for Studley Grange Motorsports Hub, we are now within touching distance of securing a long-term, sustainable future for motorsports in Swindon.

"We are calling upon all speedway supporters and karting enthusiasts to back our planning application by submitting supportive comments to Wiltshire Council to demonstrate the overwhelming public support for Studley Grange.’

"With the Abbey Stadium set to permanently close in just a few months’ time, this planning application represents the best, and final, chance of securing a sustainable future for speedway racing in Swindon and we call on all Robins supporters to back our application.

"Swindon Speedway is now in the last chance saloon and if we are unsuccessful in securing Studley Grange, the long history of speedway in Swindon, and the wider South West, will come to a permanent end."
