Swindon man jailed for breaching sexual risk order
The court sentenced Sean Morris to 20 weeks in prison
Sean Morris, a 59-year-old from Swindon's Walcot area, has been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison after admitting to breaching his sexual risk order (SRO).
Morris faced the Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 13th June, where he pleaded guilty to violating the conditions of his SRO, initially issued on 16th February.
His arrest last August was prompted by similar breaches, and on 12th June, he faced arrest again for contravening bail terms.
Following these breaches, Morris was charged and held in custody prior to his court appearance.
The court’s decision also mandated Morris to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years, alongside a requirement to pay a £154 victim surcharge.
PC Katie Owers addressed the court's decision, underlining the persistent risks Morris poses to vulnerable individuals in the community.
“Morris has repeatedly shown that he is unwilling to comply with the strict conditions put in place to protect vulnerable people," PC Owers said.
His behaviour poses a clear risk to sex workers in our community, and the court’s decision to impose a custodial sentence reflects the seriousness of his continued offending.
"We will continue to take robust action against anyone who breaches Sexual Risk Orders, and we hope this sentence provides reassurance to those who may be affected by his actions."
