Kingsdown Crematorium in Swindon has raised more than £165,000 for various charities over the past 12 years through a metal recycling initiative.

Families grieving the loss of a loved one have played a vital role in supporting these charitable efforts by consenting to the recycling of metals from cremations.

The programme, coordinated through the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM), has allowed Kingsdown Crematorium to transform these donations into meaningful support for numerous organisations.

Recently, Kingsdown Crematorium donated £17,000 to TWIGS Community Gardens, thanks to the continued generosity of participating families.

Since 2014, donations have been distributed to charities including Wiltshire Treehouse, Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind, Swindon Sands Community, and Children's Air Ambulance.

The crematorium team expressed gratitude to families for their choice to recycle metals, highlighting the significant impact on others' lives through this community initiative.
