Swindon Borough Council has applied to its planning department for approval to fly the Intersex-friendly Progress Pride flag over the Civic Offices in celebration of Pride Month in June and Swindon & Wiltshire Pride in August.

The proposed flag would be displayed from the third flagpole at the council's Euclid Street headquarters.

The new flag features rainbow stripes and chevrons representing trans pride and LGBTQ+ people of colour, alongside a yellow triangle with a purple circle denoting intersex inclusion.

Since 2023, the council has flown a special Swindon & Wiltshire Pride flag, which combines rainbow stripes, chevrons, and the wordmark of the local Pride organisation.

The initiative expresses support and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, reinforcing inclusive values and cultural recognition.

Existing flags, including the Swindon borough and union flags, are regularly flown from the other two flagpoles at the Civic Offices.

With no additional alterations planned for the building, the flag change underscores the council’s dedication to embracing diversity and championing equality throughout Swindon.
