An anti-knife crime campaigner says she wants to increase the number of publicly accessible bleed kits in Wiltshire after getting her first one stationed at a supermarket.

Swindon's Jordan Turner set up Change Lives, No to Knives after the death of her brother, Lee, in a knife attack in October 2021.

And now she's issued her first bleed kit at Tesco's in Toothill, Swindon.

"They can save somebody's life pretty quickly," she said. "They're absolutely amazing, the kit in there is army and military grade."

Jordan is urging schools, youth clubs, community centres or businesses across Wiltshire to contact her should they want a bleed kit on their premises.

She told us that, in those critical minutes between calling 999 and emergency services arriving, the bleed kit can provide life saving interventions.

"They're community kits so you don't have to be trained to use one," Jordan said. "There's quick instructions in there, you just open the bag and do what you can.

"That is the brilliant thing about them. You could be waiting up to three full minutes for an ambulance and that that bleed kit could save somebody's life during the minutes."

Since the loss of her brother, Jordan has sought to educate school pupils about knife crime.

"Education is key and knowledge is power. So if they know about knife crime, they're less likely to be involved in it," she said.

The organisation is also working in prisons on a rehab scheme for young offenders, to help them understand what they've done and the impact it has one families.

Jordan said the impact on her family has been devastating.

"It still feels like it happened yesterday," she said. "It's absolutely devastating. It's traumatic. It's not something that you wake up and it's forgot about.

"He's so missed and it's such a painful feeling in your heart."
