A group of board gamers in Swindon will be taking on a 25-hour ‘Gameathon’ to raise money for Prospect Hospice and Combat Stress.

The group, known as the SADWargamers will be playing war games all the way through from 9am on Saturday, October 25 until 9am on the Sunday.

It will be a 25-hour event due to the clocks going back this weekend, adding an extra hour in bed - but not for this group.

Philip Wynne, an organiser of the SAD Wargamers has planned an entire day and night of activities from gaming to overnight fooling around.

He said: “We will be starting at 9am by playing some games for a few hours - people will come and go and hopefully plenty will come along and donate.

“At 3pm, there will be a quiz which will be a nice break and then at midnight, the gaming will get a bit easier.

“At 5am, it gets a lot simpler, when we have all lost the will to live and we regret staying up for so long!”

The group has chosen to donate to Prospect Hospice and Combat Stress due to many of them having personal experiences with them.

Phil continued: “Several of our members have had dealings, or their family members have with Prospect Hospice.

“We also have several veterans in our clubs who are being looked after or are looking after veterans and elderly people.”

The event will take place at the Moredon Social Hub in Swindon, for more information, or to donate, you can find them here: Home - SAD Wargamers
