Man dies following house fire in Purton

Wiltshire Police can confirm that a man in his 60s has sadly died following a house fire in Purton in the early hours of yesterday morning (21 June).

Officers were called by the fire service to an address on The Pry, Purton, just before 4am to a report of an ongoing house fire.

Police attended the address at which an adult male had been removed by firefighters.

Despite medical attention, the male died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Wiltshire Police said their "thoughts remain with them at this difficult time."

Officers will continue to work with colleagues at the fire service to investigate this sad incident and to establish the cause of the fire.
