Police given more time to question two men arrested after Swindon shooting

A man in his 30s remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition

Police have been given more time to question two men arrested in connection with a shooting in Swindon on Friday night (19 June).

Officers were called to reports of a gunshot being fired in St Paul's Street in Gorse Hill just before 9pm.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with a suspected gunshot wound, where he remins in a stable but critical condition.

Today (22 June) Swindon Magistrates Court granted police more time to question a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 19-year-old man arrested in suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Six others have been released on bail pending further enquiries including:

  • A 51-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder 
  • A 30-year-old man arrested suspicion of conspiracy to murder
  • A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs
  • A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
  • A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
  • A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
