Police dog helps lead to arrest as police find £100,000 heroin stash

Suspect held for drugs and assault charges in Swindon

A police operation in Penhill led to the discovery of heroin valued at £100,000 and the arrest of a 27-year-old man - partly thanks to the nose of police dog, PD Merlin.

Officers conducted the operation on Downton Road, Penhill, on 11th February following community intelligence.

The search unveiled mobile phones, cash, drug-related items, and heroin.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of involvement in distributing Class A drugs.

The suspect also faces charges of assault by beating and criminal damage.

He is presently being held in custody for further questioning.

This operation saw collaboration between the local Neighbourhood Police Team, Local Policing Task Team, and Dog unit.
