Mental health charity, Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind, are putting on a mental health event known as 'Mental Elf', to help raise support for their cause.

The event, which will be a 5k or 2k run/walk aims to bring the community together and bring a joyous feel to the start of the festive season.

It will take place from 10am until 1pm at Farringdon Park.

A spokesperson for the organisation, Yazmin Taylor spoke about the event, she said: "It's a festive fun run to raise awareness and vital funds for Swindon and Gloucestershire mind - so your local mental health support.

"It is either a 2K or a 5K run, but you really don't have to be a runner to do it so you can walk it, you can jog it etc.

"You can have some fun with it, and if you can't manage the whole way, that's totally fine, but there'll be DJs with festive music, there'll be a Sam Swindon samba band there and we've got lots of fun for the family too, so we've got a grotto with Santa, we've got the Grinch popping in to.

"This is the first time we've done the event, so if we make a profit then that's really good. Obviously, we just want to make raise awareness mostly and yeah, to be able to make a profit this year would be absolutely amazing.

"We do get busier at this time as a service. Lots of people are lonely and feeling down, and the pressure of the holidays. So yeah, we do support a lot of people around this time. So any funds really help that.

"We're just really proud to have something that can bring all community together while also really."
