Man in his 40s arrested after burglary at Swindon supermarket

Damage caused to store door and cabinet during break-in

A man in his 40s has been arrested following a burglary at a supermarket in Swindon late last night.

Police responded to an alarm triggered at Iceland in Havelock Square shortly after 11.30pm on 30th December.

The break-in caused damage to a glass door and a cabinet containing alcohol inside the store.

Officers carried out area searches after receiving descriptions of the suspects. A man in his 40s was arrested nearby on suspicion of burglary and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station for questioning.

However, another suspect remains outstanding, and police enquiries are ongoing.

Witnesses who noticed suspicious behaviour in Havelock Square between 11pm and midnight on 30th December are encouraged to come forward.
