Man found guilty of sexual offences against teenage girl in Gorse Hill
Graham Tudgay convicted following three-day trial
A 64-year-old man from Gorse Hill has been found guilty of committing sexual offences against a teenage girl.
Graham Tudgay was convicted of sexual assault and causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity.
His conviction followed a three-day trial where a jury found him guilty.
The offences took place on 24th February 2024 at Tudgay’s residence on Avening Street.
The victim knew Tudgay and was assaulted in the presence of another teenage girl.
After leaving the property, the victim reported the assault to the police, leading to Tudgay's arrest.
Despite forensic evidence presented during police interviews, Tudgay denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty, resulting in a trial.
Detective Constable Melanie Reeves from the Child Abuse Investigation Team commented on the case, stating that Tudgay’s offences were ‘absolutely vile’ and commending the bravery of the victim and witness.
DC Reeves also assured victims that reports of such crimes are taken seriously and perpetrators will be held accountable.
Graham Tudgay has been bailed ahead of his sentencing, scheduled for 28th September.
