A man has been disqualified from driving for three years following a multiple vehicle collision on the M4.
Mohammed Khan, 38, of Avondale Gardens, Hounslow, was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 7 after he pleaded not guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
On October 8 2024, officers were called to the M4 junction 17 following a report of a multi vehicle collision.
When police arrived, they found two vehicles had collided with the central barrier and three other vehicles had been damaged by debris as a result of the collision.
Khan was the driver of a Volvo involved in the collision and according to officers, smelt strongly of alcohol.
He was breathalysed and returned a positive breath test.
He was initially arrested on suspicion of drink driving but then taken to hospital before arriving at custody where he was requested to provide an evidential sample but refused.
He was found guilty for failing to provide and sentenced to a 36-month driving disqualification, ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and to pay £610 Crown Prosecution Service costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
