A man has been charged after a mural on a block of toilets in Royal Wootton Basset was damaged just days after it was unveiled.

Jon Clifton, 18, of Nine Elms, Swindon, was charged with criminal damage on Sunday 9th November after the mural was splashed with paint on November 7th.

He has been released on bail with conditions not to enter Royal Wootton Bassett and is due to appear at Swindon magistrates court on November 27.

The mural was created by local school children and volunteers in efforts to stop vandalism of the block of toilets at Borough Fields shopping centre.

The mural has now been cleaned up and repairs are underway.
