A 32 year old man has appeared in court accused of the murder of his flatmate in Swindon.

Erdogan Erdogan, a Turkish national of no fixed abode is on trial at Bristol Crown Court accused of the murder of 27-year old Fatih Zengi in July 2025.

On the opening day of the trial today (January 7), Mr Erdogan, sitting beside an interpreter, spoke only to confirm his name.

He denies murder and a charge of carrying a knife in a public place.

The court heard how officers were alerted to a seriously injured man in Manchester Road, Swindon, by a passing cyclist shortly after 5am on Wednesday 2 July.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, Fatih sadly died of his injuries shortly afterwards.

The trial at Bristol Crown Court is expected to last two weeks.
