Investigation launched as teenage girl is sexually assaulted in Swindon

An investigation is underway after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Swindon.

Police say it happened in a wooded area beside Akers Way in the early hours of Saturday - between the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate and Vicarage Road.

Officers are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: "We are urgently appealing for information following a sexual assault in the early hours of Saturday 6th September in a wooded area beside Akers Way, Swindon.

"The assault, on a teenage girl, took place between the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate and Vicarage Road and we would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 1am and 10am in the early hours of Saturday.

"Detectives would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage from this time period.
