Investigation launched after man seriously assaulted in Swindon

The victim suffered knife wounds which are not thought to be serious

Police in Swindon have launched an investigation after a man was seriously assaulted in May Close on Tuesday.

On June 3rd, between 11.25pm and 11.50pm, the victim, a man in his 40s, was approached by three suspects on mopeds and asked for his belongings.

Officers say that when the victim ran, the suspects have racially abused him and followed him to the front of his property in May Close, where they assaulted him with a knife.

The victim suffered knife wounds which are not thought to be serious. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The suspects have then fled without taking anything.

They are described as white, wearing all black and balaclavas.

The investigation is being managed by Swindon CID. A cordon was put in place to allow for enquiries to be carried out and has since been lifted.

DS Craig Rathbone of Swindon CID said: “We appreciate the community concern this incident will cause and we are treating it incredibly seriously.

“There can be no place for this kind of violence in Swindon and our enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible.

“There will be an increased policing presence in the area while enquiries are carried out. If you have any concerns then please speak to one of our officers.

“We know there were a number of witnesses to the incident. If we haven’t spoken to you yet then please get in touch.
