Keir Starmer praised the redevelopment which could create thousands of jobs .
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has praised the redevelopment of the Honda site by industrial developer Panattoni as something which could create thousands of jobs and pump more than a billion pounds into the regional economy.
And he has been invited to visit.
At Prime Minister’s Questions Swindon North MP, Will Stone, asking his first question, said: “We have the Panattoni Park development. The largest employment development in Europe, it’s got massive potential for growth.
“Will the Prime Minister acknowledge the site for boosting economic growth, not only in my region, but the country, and will he come and visit it with me?”
Mr Starmer replied: “He’s right to champion one of the largest brownfield sites in the UK, which could create over 11,000 jobs on site and add £1.2 billion to the economy.
It underlines the importance of this government bringing economic stability, creating the national wealth fund, and driving up growth.”
The Prime Minister did not respond either way to the invitation to visit at the end of Mr Stone’s question.
Swindon South MP Heidi Alexander, now the Secretary of State for Transport, was in the chamber to hear her Swindon colleague’s first question to a Prime Minister.
