Hearing held for former officer convicted of assaulting child on duty
Despite resigning last week, Rusling has now been placed on the Police Barred List
A hearing has determined that former Wiltshire Police officer Daniel Rusling would have faced dismissal for assaulting a child had he not resigned.
Rusling previously admitted to one count of assault by beating and received an eight-week custodial sentence suspended for 12 months, alongside unpaid work.
The incident occurred near Monkton Park police station in Chippenham last October, involving a 13-year-old who had called 999 after being threatened by individuals in a car.
Body Worn Video footage showed Rusling, a response officer at the time, using foul language and aggressively pushing the child.
Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith chaired the hearing, concluding on 20th July that Rusling's actions justified dismissal without notice.
Despite resigning last week, Rusling was placed on the Police Barred List.
