Police in Devizes are continuing negotiations with a man on the roof a home.

Officers have cordoned off Reeves Road as a result.

The man made his way to the local housing estate after jumping off the roof a building at Green Lane Hospital this morning - where he'd been since yesterday.

In an update, officers said: "Please be aware that we have cordoned off Reeves Road, Devizes, following a development in the Green Lane Hospital incident.

"Shortly after 5am this morning (12/06), the man, aged in his 20s, jumped off the roof of a building at the hospital and into a neighbouring field, and then made his way into a local housing estate, where he has climbed onto the roof of a residential house.

"We have set up a cordon on the street and are continuing to negotiate with the man.

"We appreciate this development will be concerning for local residents. Please be assured that the situation is being managed and residents are able to come and go from their properties.

"If you have any concerns then please don’t hesitate to speak to one of our officers."
