Crime in Wiltshire has fallen for the third straight year, according to officer of national statistics data.

Over 2,000 fewer crimes were recorded in the county in the year ending December 2024, with figures showing a 5.6% drop across the year.

The data shows Wiltshire continues to have the lowest overall reported crime rate in the country, per 1,000 of population.

In 2023, 41,903 crimes were reported to investigators, but this number has dropped to 39,627.

The biggest fall in crime type is robbery, which is down by 30% with 214 fewer recorded.

Possession of weapons is next, with a 13% reduction, as instances fell by 366.

Theft, is down 10.4%, with burglary crimes slashed by 7%.

Violence against the person and public order offences also fell.

There was a near 8% increase (7.7%) in reports of sexual offences, although that remains the lowest figure per 1,000 people compared to neighbouring south west forces and those of a similar size elsewhere in the country.

Drug crimes have risen as well, up by almost 11% (10.8%).

The message from the Force is to continue reporting crimes to them.
