Repair works to commence at Coate Water Country Park following inspection
Visitors face restrictions during 8–10 week project
Swindon's Coate Water Country Park is set to undergo significant repair work, with restrictions temporarily in place for visitors.
Following an inspection, concerns were identified with the concrete in the dam wall and spillway culvert at the popular park.
Councillor Rebecca Banwell-Moore, representing Badbury Park, Eldene and Liden, confirmed the updates and changes on social media.
Repair works are scheduled to commence on 19th October and are anticipated to last between 8 to 10 weeks.
During this period, the dam wall and spillway areas will be closed to the public, ensuring safety while contractors carry out the necessary repairs.
Footpaths will remain accessible, with clear signage provided throughout the project.
As part of the safety measures, the lake level will be intentionally lowered to around one metre below the dam wall revetment.
This reduced water level will be maintained until the completion of the works, after which the lake will naturally return to its usual level.
Swindon Borough Council has already informed lake users of these changes and plans to distribute further information to residents as the start date approaches.
