Swindon's Chris Van Roon appointed director at TransWilts CIC
Former councillor joins efforts to enhance local rail and transport services
The TransWilts CIC is pleased to announce Chris Van Roon, a seasoned Swindon-based civil servant, as a new director. Chris brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at the Department for Education and the Research Councils, along with his background as a Swindon Borough Councillor, offering extensive local connections.
Leveraging his regular use of GWR train services, Chris aims to integrate his knowledge to improve local rail services and promote sustainable transport options like buses.
Chris expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating:
"It is an exciting time for rail as the industry moves back into the public sector. I am keen to use my local knowledge and expertise with TransWilts to further its aims."
TransWilts CIC has also appointed Catharine Symington, who is focused on implementing a new station at Devizes Parkway, and Alan Cudlipp, who supports establishing a station at Corsham.
Chair Paddy Bradley highlighted the contributions Chris and his fellow directors will bring to the organisation:
"Chris will bring a wealth of skills to our meetings. His background in the Civil Service and local politics will be invaluable to us."
The addition of these new directors reinforces TransWilts CIC's commitment to advancing rail infrastructure and enhancing transport connectivity for communities in Swindon and beyond.
