Recent speed enforcement activities across south Wiltshire have identified more than 140 drivers exceeding local speed limits, according to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon.

With speeding frequently raised as a concern by residents, Philip Wilkinson and his team have focused efforts on areas with 30mph zones.

Throughout the past week, Community Speed Enforcement Officers conducted checks to address these concerns.

In Tilshead, 69 drivers were caught speeding within three 30-minute sessions, with two drivers exceeding the limit at speeds of 52mph.

Meanwhile, in Wilton, 72 drivers were recorded going over the limit within a single 70-minute session, including one driver reaching 53mph.

Consequently, 117 drivers have been offered a speed awareness course as part of the enforcement measures.

In addition, 19 drivers have received a fixed penalty notice, while five drivers face court action.

This initiative aligns with the road safety priorities outlined in the Police and Crime Plan for Wiltshire and Swindon, which aims to ensure regular speed checks continue across the region.
