A car's collided with a bridge in Lechlade, forcing the partial closure of the road there.

Police were called to Hambidge Lane at around 10.10pm yesterday (Thursday 22nd May) to reports of a white BMW 5 Series involved in a crash.

The front end had gone through a wall and was hanging off the bridge.

A male driver was also seen fleeing the scene before officers arrived.

He has yet to be located, despite a search of the area.

The vehicle has since been removed, with a National Highways structural engineer assessing the damage.

The road remains partially closed for safety reasons.

There's now an appeal for anyone with information about the collision, including dashcam footage, to get in touch with Gloucestershire Police.

You can call them on 101, or use the force website, quoting reference number 491 of 22nd May.
