Swindon Borough Council said this afternoon (December 17) that they had received confirmation from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) confirming the presence of avian flu.
The council added that the risk of transmission to humans and mammals, such as cats and dogs, is low.
People are being advised not to touch dead or sick birds, feathers, or any contaminated areas like bird droppings in any local parks to avoid potential exposure.
