Arrest made after babies left 'unattended' inside car

Wiltshire Police have confirmed a man has been arrested after reports of two babies being left unattended in a supermarket car park.

They were called out to the shop in North Swindon on Sunday afternoon - with officers forcing entry into the vehicle after - it's reported - that announcements were made in the supermarket, but nobody responded to these requests.

In a statement sent to Greatest Hits Radio, Wiltshire Police told us: "We responded to reports of concern for the welfare of two babies that were left unattended inside a car outside Asda, north Swindon at around 1.20pm on March 16.

"Officers forced entry to the vehicle to safeguard the infants.

"A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and the children and parents were escorted back to their home address with officers and the man was de-arrested.

"The babies were unharmed, and children's services have been engaged to provide further support and monitoring."
