An appeal has been launched by police in Swindon after they report a child being injured by a dog which, they say, was 'out of control'.

The incident happened last month in Stratton.

Swindon Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and information after a child was injured by an out of control dog.

"On December 12, at around 15:20 in Ross Gardens, Kingsdown, Stratton, an unknown elderly male has been seen with two dogs on leads. One of the dogs, reported to be a small black "SCOTTIE" dog has allegedly jumped up and bitten the child.

"Luckily due to the winter clothing there was only a small pinch mark on the child’s arm.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, please contact us on 101 quoting reference 54240146577."
