Wiltshire charity ALABARÉ wins double at national Mental Health Awards
Recognition for exceptional client wellbeing and innovative activities
Wiltshire-based charity ALABARÉ celebrated a historic double win at the national Mental Health Awards, securing victories in both Client Wellbeing and Innovative Proactive Wellbeing Activity categories.
The awards ceremony, held on 8th October and hosted by former Coronation Street star Charlie Condou in Reading, acknowledged the charity's outstanding contributions to mental health support.
For Client Wellbeing, the charity's Boots on the Ground programme impressed judges by providing activities for veterans and young people that align with NHS Five Ways to Wellbeing criteria and enhance mental health.
The varied sessions, ranging from outdoor challenges to life skills training, integrate participants into their communities while fostering autonomy and teamwork.
In the Innovative Proactive Wellbeing Activity category, ALABARÉ’s Heritage That Heals programme won acclaim.
This initiative involves veterans engaging in restoration work at military history sites in Malta, creating cultural exchange opportunities and promoting wellbeing and employability.
Veterans involved in Heritage That Heals reported a 69% boost in wellbeing, significantly contributing to their journeys towards independence.
Gill Turner-Callis, ALABARÉ’s Senior Chaplain, highlighted the awards as a testament to the charity’s holistic support model that combines practical shelter with transformative wellbeing activities.
ALABARÉ’s services, backed by multiple foundations and organisations, continue to make meaningful differences in clients' lives.
