A Worthing man has been banned from entering certain Sussex stores after a spree of shoplifting offences last month.

Between 3rd November and 28th November this year, Lee Cummings, 23, stole over £940 worth of items from shops across the county. Items stolen included alcohol, meat products, laundry items, candles, and Lego.

Cummings was arrested on 28th November and charged with 16 counts of theft the following morning. He appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court the same day, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.

Cummings, of Ivy Arch Road, Worthing, was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail. He was also issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), banning him from entering any Co-Op, B&M, or Marks and Spencer shop in Sussex for three years. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a £184 surcharge.

Inspector Sharon Sawyer said: “I am pleased to see this prolific offender brought to justice.

"Sussex Police recognises the impacts shoplifting has on businesses and employees, particularly on those repeatedly targeted.

"We are committed to investigating all reports received and encourage businesses to report every incident no matter how small.”
