A man has been jailed after travelling to meet a person he believed to be a 13-year-old child, following online discussions of a sexual nature.

Michael Dyos, of College Road, Southwater, West Sussex, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Monday, 17 March, after pleading guilty to one count of arranging or facilitating the offence of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Dyos was arrested in Littlehampton on 8 July last year, after driving from Southwater to meet with the person. He was charged the following day.

Detective Constable Justin Marsden, of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU), said: “Dyos is a predatory sex offender, who travelled to Littlehampton with the specific intention of meeting up with a child. Thanks to the efforts of our team, he will now be spending time in prison, where he will no longer be a threat to children.”

Dyos was already subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order at the time of the offence. This order remains in place until April 2031.
