A new health and wellbeing course is launching in the Chichester District this week, offering working-aged men the chance to improve their fitness, build confidence and support their mental health.

The Warrior Programme begins on Thursday 18 September in Bosham and runs weekly from 7pm to 8pm for 12 weeks. It’s aimed at men aged 30 to 60 who currently exercise less than 150 minutes per week and are looking to create healthier habits.

Organised by Chichester Wellbeing, Chichester Strength and Conditioning, and local men’s mental health group Primal Warrior, the sessions follow a successful pilot held earlier this year which received positive feedback from participants.

The course includes simple workouts, practical training, and guidance on health and nutrition. Sessions will combine indoor and outdoor activities, including access to the Chichester Strength and Conditioning gym, with a focus on improving mobility, technique and overall fitness.

Mental health support will also play a key role, with Primal Warrior leading sessions to help reduce stress and build resilience.

Fraser Jones is a Coach at Chichester Strength and Conditioning:

"It's not a transformation programme, it's an educational programme where can teach people how to live slightly healthier. We also encourage men to keep moving, whilst also helping them build connections with other people."

Chichester District Council have helped fund the programme. Cllr Tracie Bangert, Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing at Chichester District Council said:

“This new programme is a wonderful opportunity for men in our district who are looking for opportunities to build their confidence and improve their health and fitness."

“We know that men are often less likely to seek help when it comes to their health, which is why programmes like this are so important. The Warrior Programme offers a welcoming and encouraging space where participants are supported every step of the way.

“The pilot that we ran earlier this year was an amazing success. The sessions are a great opportunity for men in this age category to exercise more, improve their mobility and energy levels, and boost their overall health and mental wellbeing.

“The Warrior Programme has been developed to offer practical guidance, and a welcoming space where men can connect, share experiences, and encourage each other, taking positive steps towards healthier and happier lives.”
