Work to transform Victoria Place in Eastbourne is nearly done
The council says the new look, with better access for pedestrians, aims to make the town centre a more inviting destination.
A major revamp of Victoria Place in Eastbourne is almost finished.
East Sussex Council's hoping the ten month scheme, which has made the area more accessible and pedestrian friendly, will attract more visitors and support local businesses.
As part of the Eastbourne Town Centre Movement and Access Package and with Levelling Up funding of £4.74million, East Sussex County Council and Eastbourne Borough Council worked together on the £5.45million improvement scheme in Terminus Road between Seaside Road and Grand Parade.
This week representatives from the two councils, along with East Sussex Highways, and contractors Octavius met to view the work.
With the paving area now complete, additional items will be added in the coming months including seating, planting and a new piece of artwork commissioned by the Towner Gallery.
