Homes evacuated after unexploded bomb discovered in Ditchling

Sussex Police have confirmed the incident was not terror-related

Residents of a Sussex village have been allowed to return home after the discovery of an exploded bomb led to an evacuation.

Officers and an explosive ordnance disposal team attended the scene in Lewes Road in Ditchling to remove "unexploded chemical munitions" after it was found on Tuesday (24 February) afternoon.

At around 3:00AM on Wednesday (25 February) Sussex Police confirmed the cordon in the area had been lifted and residents were allowed to return home.

A police spokesperson confirmed the incident was not terror related.
