Teenager sentenced for manslaughter of Sussex man
Paul Lawrence died after being the victim of assault in Littlehampton
A 17-year-old boy has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for the manslaughter of a 51-year-old man in Littlehampton.
Paul Lawrence, who lived locally, died after being assaulted in Gladonian Road in the early hours of 28 January 2024.
A teenager from Bognor Regis, who can't b named for legal reasons, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on 6 October where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
At another appearance on 12 December, the boy was told he would spend three years and four months behind bars.
Another teenager, also 17 and from Littlehampton, was previously convicted in connection with Mr Lawrence's death.
The second boy pleaded guilty to sending a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003, and possession of cannabis.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell, from Sussex Police, said: “Paul’s family have shown tremendous strength and courage throughout this investigation, and I’d like to thank them for their support and understanding.
“While nothing can change what happened that fateful day, I hope the conclusion of this case brings them some sense of closure.
"Our thoughts remain with them.”
