Teenager jailed for attacking hospital staff in St Leonards

A 19-year-old has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for attacking a hospital worker, two police officers, and racially abusing a security guard at Conquest Hospital in St Leonards.

Courtney Stewart, from Willingdon Road, Eastbourne, faced charges of assault and racially aggravated behavior, to which she pleaded guilty.

The incident occurred on 21st April last year, and Stewart was sentenced on 17th February at Lewes Crown Court.

Her actions led to three counts of assault by beating and alarm and distress caused through racial abuse.

Sussex Police emphasized their commitment to Operation Cavell, a partnership aiming to increase prosecution rates and protect healthcare workers from violence.

Sergeant Kieron Bracey expressed appreciation for those who reported the incident, reinforcing the national stance against violence or abuse towards NHS staff.
