Sussex officer accused of stalking using police equipment to stand trial

Allegations include misuse of ANPR system and accessing personal data.

A Sussex police officer is set to stand trial following accusations of using police equipment to stalk a woman.

Pc Peter De Silvo, 48, pleaded not guilty at Guildford Crown Court to charges of stalking the woman between October 2021 and 2023.

The accusations involve checking sat nav records, dash cam footage, activating a tracking app on an iPad, photographing personal items, and accessing emails and a dating app.

De Silvo is also alleged to have accessed Sussex Police's automatic number plate recognition system to monitor the woman's movements on 21st November 2021.

At the same hearing, he pleaded not guilty to unauthorised access to the force's system regarding a man on 4th November 2021.

He further denied charges related to unlawfully obtaining personal data from a crime reporting system on 12th June 2021 and committing fraud by false representation to Adur and Worthing Council on 6th July 2022.

De Silvo, from Worthing, West Sussex, will face a further hearing on 2nd June related to three more charges under the Data Protection Act.

His trial is scheduled for 7th December.
