A second vigil is taking place in memory of the 'Babes in the Wood', who were murdered in Brighton.

The bodies of Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway were found in Wild Park 40 years ago today.

A memorial trees been illuminated and candles lit, with today's event releasing doves and saying prayers for the girls.

It's been organised by Nicola's uncle, Nigel, who described her as "a very cheeky young lady":

"She was very good at one liners, and actually so was Karen.

"She was very outgoing and well spoken. She'd always talk her mind."

He told Greatest Hits Radio that he appreciates the community showing up to remember the girls each year.

Among them is Jane, who lives across the park and pays her respects every year:

"I knew both the girls. My daughter went to school with one of them, but they were just nice little girls.

"It's just horrible and sad."

She recalls a police search on the day that they died, gasping at the memory of them wrapping tape around the crime scene,

"I think every year about what if.

"I didn't see anything, I didn't know anything, but what if I'd looked out the window or I'd been over the park with a dog at that time.

"Every year I think about it."
